Business School Celebrates with Supporters at the Spring Cocktail

08/03/2017

On the evening of 16 February, nearly 200 guests rang in the Year of the Rooster during the annual Spring Cocktail networking platform at the Island Shangri-La Hong Kong, reuniting faculty and staff with alumni and friends from academia, the government and the business community.

In his opening address, CUHK Provost Prof. Benjamin Wah presented the CUHK Strategic Plan for 2016-2020. To help graduates thrive in a more flexible working environment, the plan included new initiatives such as the FinTech undergraduate program and a public online series of courses called ‘Doing Business in China’, both to be launched in the 2017-18 academic year. “We aim to nurture lifelong learners as global leaders and provide thought leadership with a global and societal impact. I am confident these initiatives, along with others, will contribute to society in a meaningful way,” he remarked.

Business School Dean Prof. Kalok Chan expressed his sincere gratitude to the evening’s attendees for their tremendous support in the past, with special thanks extended to those who supported the celebratory activities commemorating the MBA 50th anniversary last year. He also discussed the developments and innovations set forth in the 5-year Business School Strategic Plan, impressing the evening’s attendees. “We need your help,” said Prof. Chan. “To fulfil the vision of the Business School, I look forward to partnering with alumni and organisations on education initiatives for the betterment of Hong Kong, the mainland and the region.”

The ballroom’s elegant ambiance formed a fitting backdrop as guests spent a wonderful evening mingling and enjoying the delicious food and beverages. The happy occasion also provided an opportunity for the Business School’s supporters to engage with two new faculty members ─ Ms. Stephanie Villemagne, Associate Dean of Graduate Programs and Director of MBA Programs, and Prof. Angela Ng, Associate Dean for Global Engagement and External Relations ─ both among the 17 new faculty staff this academic year.

The Spring Cocktail was organised by the Alumni and Corporate Affairs Office. On behalf of the Business School, we would like to thank our alumni and working partners for their generous support over the years, and wish them all the best in the years to come.
