Senior Alumni Return to Alma Mater for Learning and Networking

Over 40 senior alumni from Hong Kong and the mainland attended the Alumni Homecoming Seminar on Saturday, 1 April at Executive Education Suite in the Cheng Yu Tung Building. Organised by the Alumni and Corporate Affairs Office and hosted by Prof. Kalok Chan, the Business School dean, the event welcomed alumni back to their alma mater with a thought leadership platform combining sharing, learning and networking.

Throughout the busy event, alumni listened as three top Business School professors shared their insights on various topics. Prof. Zhang Tianyu, Professor of the School of Accountancy and Director of the Centre for Institutions and Governance, gave a talk titled  “Media and Corporate Governance.” Polishing Pearls Ltd. CEO Prof. Giles Brennand, CEO Coach of Polishing Pearls and an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Management, shared his wisdom with “Seeking Truth: Experts in a Post-factual World.” Finally, Prof. Vernon Hsu, the Choh-Ming Li Professor and Chairman of Decision Sciences and Managerial Economics, delivered his lecture, “Global Supply Chain Strategy under Trade Barrier.” Dean Prof. Chan concluded the seminar with a brief overview of the Business School’s latest developments, drawing particular attention to the faculty strategic plan for the next five years.

For many alumni, particularly those from the mainland, the event was their first visit to their alma mater since graduation. It provided them with a valuable opportunity to learn about the competitive business landscape while networking with new and old friends in a relaxed atmosphere. A delicious dinner at Shatin 18 at the nearby Hyatt Regency Hong Kong ended the evening on a happy note.

“It was a wonderful experience to bring our senior alumni from Hong Kong and the mainland together for this friendly and thought-provoking gathering. I look forward to welcoming more alumni to their alma mater during our next homecoming event,” said Dean Prof. Chan.
