Global Alumni Ambassador Dan Pang (IBBA 2003) Connects with Guangzhou Alumni to Forge Stronger Network

Dan Pang (IBBA 2003) is among some 70 Global Alumni Ambassadors (GAAs) of CUHK Business School dedicated to connecting and supporting alumni in their localities. Based in Guangzhou currently, Dan revels in exchanging updates with members of the local alumni community. “As a GAA, I have the privilege to connect with alumni, not to mention the multiple opportunities for networking and collaboration.”

Exchange beyond Boundaries

Dan acted proactively in his capacity and started off by joining alumni WeChat groups to expand his network. He met Jay Ao (MScREHA 2016), a real estate practitioner junior to him, in a surveyors group. They intended to get together several times in Zhejiang but unfortunately their plans were disrupted by the pandemic. They finally met in Guangzhou following Dan’s relocation this year, when Jay went there too to visit his relatives. It was a pleasant and fruitful rendezvous as they recalled the good old days in CUHK Business School and exchanged industry updates.

Jay was delighted at connecting with like-minded peers through the GAA Programme. “We have many common friends in CUHK and the real estate and construction industry. We can always enjoy a bubbly conversation on shared topics and our visions for the industry,” Jay enthused. He also shared with Dan some insider’s tips about places to visit in Guangzhou.

Reunion with Classmate

New friends aside, Dan also reconnects with former classmates thanks to the Programme. Jodie Leung (IBBA 2003) from the property agency industry was in the same class with Dan in CUHK Business School. They lost touch with each other after graduation until Jodie contacted Dan again after spotting him from a promotion post of the GAA Programme. The two took a nostalgic look back at their campus days while exploring collaboration opportunities in a reunion in Guangzhou this year. “Both of us are from the real estate industry; there are a lot to share with and learn from Dan,” says Jodie who was grateful to meet her old friend again.

Connections among alumni are particularly reassuring to them. “It doesn’t matter if we knew each other or not; we are from the same family – the alumni community of the CUHK Business School. The friendship among us is real and precious.”
