Organised by the Tsinghua University - The Chinese University of Hong Kong MBA Programme in Finance (Shenzhen), this year’s FMBA New Year Party was a resounding success. The fun-filled event was held on 14 December in the glamourous grand ballroom at Bay Breeze Resort Shenzhen. The theme of the evening was “Dreams Connect Us”.
Over 300 students, alumni, teachers and friends joined the fun, and the Hong Kong delegation included Prof. Michael Zhang, Associate Dean (Innovation and Impact) of CUHK Business School; Prof. Liu Ming, Director of FMBA Programme; Prof. Zhang Tianyu from the School of Accountancy; Prof. Cen Ling from the Finance Department; Prof. Terence Chong, Executive Director of Lau Chor Tak Institute of Global Economics and Finance; and Prof. Li Hongyi from the Department of Decision Sciences and Managerial Economics.
Prof. Wu Xiaofeng, Party Committee Secretary of Tsinghua Shenzhen International Graduate School, and Prof. Michael Zhang, Associate Dean (Innovation and Impact) of CUHK Business School, opened the event with a warm welcome and a toast to the New Year. A delectable Chinese banquet kept appetites sated while guests were treated to a packed agenda of festive entertainment including singing performances, a poetry reading, a martial arts display, and a band. The party also provided a valuable opportunity to present several awards recognising outstanding contributions to the FMBA Programme, such as Alumni Association Presidents Awards, Alumni Awards, Awards for Distinguished Persons and Groups.
The highlight of the evening came when Prof. Liu Ming, FMBA Director, took to the stage to lead the kick-off for the 9th Asia-Pacific Business Schools Desert Adventure. He encouraged FMBA students and alumni to join the competition, a flagship event for business schools in the Asia Pacific region. “Everyone in this ballroom is an ambassador for our FMBA Programme and your participation in the 3-day endurance challenge would be a clear demonstration of the FMBA family’s collaborative spirit.”
The highly anticipated Lucky Draw featuring over 80 prizes created much excitement, rounding off the evening perfectly. Delighted with the party’s success, Prof. Liu closed, “Please accept my heartfelt gratitude to the Organising Committee for making this celebration a great success. The support of each and every one of you means a great deal and has raised the bar once again. See you all next year!”
