On 29 April, over 80 alumni and guests attended the first session of the fourth Annual General Meeting of CUHK Business School’s Taiwan Alumni Association, followed by a cheerful lunch together at Taipei’s Grand Hotel.
Several guests from the Business School flew to Taipei to join them, including Prof. Waiman Cheung, Executive Director of the Asia-Pacific Institute of Business, Prof. Timon Du, Professor from the Department of Decision Sciences and Managerial Economics, and Ms. Florence Lai, Director of the Alumni and Corporate Affairs Office.
The event opened with a warm welcome from Dr. Wei Jung-Tsung, Chairman of the CUHK Business School’s Taiwan Alumni Association, who thanked everyone for contributing to the strength of the alumni association. Prof. Waiman Cheung followed with his opening remarks, commending the unity and camaraderie that was apparent among the alumni.
Complementing the flawless Taiwanese cuisine was a charming inaugural performance by the world’s first-ever musical quartet, comprising an erhu, flute, pipa and guzheng made of liuli (coloured crystal). Another highlight arrived in the form of a surprise birthday cake for Prof. Du, who was delighted to be able to share it with the alumni in Taiwan.
It was a meaningful occasion for the attendees, who took the opportunity to catch up with old classmates and make new acquaintances. The gathering closed with a rousing chorus as the alumni raised their voices together in the spirit of solidarity and celebration.
