On Sunday, 4 March, a group of enthusiastic alumni volunteers had a networking dim-sum lunch with elderly volunteers in Shamshuipo before visiting the homes of senior citizens living in nearby public housing estates. This meaningful event was organized by the Ho Kin District Community Centre, sponsored by the charitable organisation Sik Sik Yuen and supported by the CUHK Business School BBA Alumni Association.
During the lunch, an appreciation ceremony was held to honour the efforts of elderly volunteers and supporting organisations. Ms. Cindy Cheung, the Centre-in-Charge, presented a certificate of appreciation to Ms. Florence Lai, the Alumni and Corporate Affairs Director, to recognise the Business School’s unwavering support over the years. Another certificate was given to Mr. Raymond Lo, President of the BBA Alumni Association, for his work involving alumni in various community events. Next, alumni and elderly volunteers spent time demonstrating teamwork and collaboration skills in a series of games while enjoying delicious dim sum.
The highlight of the day came during visits to the homes of elderly citizens in Shamshuipo after lunch. Alumni volunteers were split into groups for a briefing beforehand and each volunteer carried a gift pack with Chinese New Year goodies, including wool gloves and socks, seafood and other necessities. Everyone enjoyed spending time with the elderly locals and presenting them with gifts, and many warm memories were made over the course of the day.
The Ho Kin District Community Centre was thankful for the support of the BBA Alumni Association. “I am grateful for this opportunity to participate in community service with fellow alumni, who share our common goal of making a better society for all to enjoy,” said Mr. Raymond Lo.
