On 9 December 2017 and 13 January 2018, a group of alumni joined with other volunteers to visit the elderly in Sham Shui Po, showing their support during the chilly winter season. These meaningful community activities were organized by the Ho Kin District Community Centre for Senior Citizens and supported by CUHK Business School.
Prior to the visits, Ms. Candy Cheung, the team leader of the centre, introduced the organization’s mission and activities and offered the volunteers a few tips on how to engage with senior citizens. They then went in groups with gift packs to visit the local elderly, who mostly live alone in public housing estates.
The volunteers warmly greeted the senior citizens with festive blessings, presenting gift packs with soup, biscuits, calendars, and other necessities, as they listened to their life stories. The experience was inspiring for everyone and highlighted the challenges faced by senior citizens in need of help and care.
Ms. Candy Cheung expressed her gratitude for the support given by alumni volunteers and hopes the Centre will continue to collaborate with CUHK Business School in future. The Alumni and Corporate Affairs Office would like to thank our fellow alumni for their selfless contribution to society, bringing joy and happiness to underprivileged people in need of love and care.
