Q1. Could you briefly describe your current role?
I am a postgraduate student in public policy at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, where I specialise in economics and development with research focus in the application of medical drones, sustainable practices of SMEs and universal digital rights.
Q2. Please describe Singapore in three words.
Well-developed — Singapore is remarkably clean and safe, with a very high standard of living.
Predictable — Life in Singapore is governed by efficient and well-organised systems, which can make everything feel predictable and orderly.
Multicultural — As a hub in Southeast Asia, Singapore gathers talented individuals from different Southeast Asian countries (e.g., Indonesia, the Philippines) and you can easily learn about other rich and unique cultures here.
Q3. Which industry do you see strong business potential in Singapore and why?
Singapore is a global commercial and financial centre, which is very similar to Hong Kong in many ways, and professional services continue to be one of the strongest sectors here. The government plays a pivotal role in economic development, and so it is important to keep an eye on the latest policymaking direction.
Q4. What is the one thing you miss the most during your study at CUHK Business School, and that you look forward to doing again?
Looking back, some of the activities we did at the orientation camp may have seemed silly, but I’m grateful for the genuine friendships I formed there. While I’m not sure if I’m up for staying awake all night for a whole week again, those were truly special days that I will always treasure.
