On 15 September, the BBA Alumni Association of CUHK lent its support to a charity event organised by the Ho Kin District Community Centre for Senior Citizens. Over 20 alumni, their family members and friends took time out of their weekend to visit senior citizens in Sham Shui Po.
Ahead of the visit, a representative from the Centre introduced the organisation’s mission and activities, and shared tips on visiting the elderly. The briefing session provided volunteers with an understanding of the kinds of challenges faced by elderly people living alone.
When it came time for the visit, our alumni brought along bags of gifts including thermal bottles and daily necessities as well as festive mooncakes, making this Mid-Autumn Festival filled with love and warmth for the elderly. Each alumni volunteer received a limited-edition CUHK Business School T-shirt as a token of the School’s appreciation for their act of kindness to society.
“We usually gather with friends and family over Mid-Autumn Festival, and it is easy to forget that a group of senior citizens may be celebrating the festival alone,” said Mr. Raymond Lo, President of the BBA Alumni Association. “Just one simple act of caring at this special time can make their day, setting off ripples of positivity through society.”
