It may be cold in December in the Chinese capital, but Ms. Florence Lai, Alumni and Corporate Affairs Director, felt the warmth of genuine hospitality during a recent trip to the city.
Ms. Lai dedicated a morning to visiting the beautiful Jing Lu Academy with Mr. Huang Zhaolong, FMBA alumnus and Assistant General Manager of Huarong Securities Co. Ltd. The two had the privilege of meeting the academy’s founder, Mr. Duan Junping (EMBA Chinese 2016), a famous scholar and calligrapher in mainland China. Mr. Duan extended a warm welcome to his visitors and showed them around the building’s five floors, which are themed around poetry, tea, flowers, books and incense, respectively. Mr. Duan also presented his guests with an exquisite gift showcasing his own impressive calligraphy skills: the CUHK and Tsinghua mottos, which he kindly gave away to the FMBA (Beijing) New Year Party for auction (the FMBA programme is jointly offered by CUHK and Tsinghua University).
Following the visit to the academy, Ms. Lai enjoyed a delicious vegetarian lunch with another alumnus – Mr. Chen Jun, a 2018 graduate of the EMBA (Chinese) Programme and Chairman of the Chinese Wisdom Shares Holdings Co. Ltd. Ms. Lai updated Mr. Chen on latest developments at the CUHK Business School, and of course took the opportunity to present him with a Business School alumni tie!
