A New Year Bash for Tsinghua-CUHK FMBA (Beijing)
The New Year Party was a great success, connecting over 300 alumni, students and faculty members
Held on 23 December 2018 in the ballroom of the InterContinental Beijing Beichen, the Tsinghua-CUHK FMBA (Beijing) New Year Party, was a rousing success. The event attracted over 300 MBA Programme in Finance (FMBA) alumni and students from the 2000-2018 Beijing intakes, who gathered at a gala party with the theme “We, Come Together”.
The event opened with warm welcomes from Prof. Xu Xin, Associate Dean of Tsinghua University’s School of Economics and Management, and Prof. Liu Ming, FMBA Director of the CUHK Business School and Executive Associate Dean of the Shenzhen Finance Institute. The Beijing night was freezing outdoors, but inside the ballroom it was quite another story.
With students and alumni hosting the evening’s programme, the room was soon filled with the warmth of fun, laugher and thunderous applause. Enchanting performances included dancing and singing blending the cultures of East and West, as well as a thought-provoking drama showcasing the importance of family support and caring for the elderly, while an exciting lucky draw featured fabulous prizes. The gala dinner concluded with the FMBA Alumni Charity Auction presenting over 30 valuable pieces to the audience, with all proceeds going to the Tsinghua SEM Students Overseas Exchange Fund and the FMBA Beijing Alumni Association Development Fund.
Prof. Liu applauded the dedication of students and alumni in putting together the fantastic event: “I would like to express my heartfelt appreciation for the time and resources they have devoted to making this a most memorable event for us all. What a touching evening it has been!” Ms. Florence Lai, Alumni and Corporate Affairs Director, added: “The party was a great success. I was so impressed by the unity and team spirit of our FMBA alumni and students in Beijing, who have been valuable members of the CUHK family for the past 19 years.”
