It was a truly momentous occasion when the CUHK EMBA (Chinese) Alumni Association was officially inaugurated on 19 October at LT1 of the Cheng Yu Tung Building.

Over 100 alumni and students from the programme attended, along with faculty members and guests that included Mr. Daniel Cheng, Director of the CUHK Alumni Affairs Office; Mr. Anders Lam, Chairman of CUHK Convocation; Prof. Kalok Chan, Dean of the CUHK Business School; Ms. Florence Lai, Alumni and Corporate Affairs Director of the CUHK Business School; Prof. Jeff Yeung, Director of the EMBA (Chinese) Programme; Prof. Cong Wang, Associate Director of the Shenzhen Finance Institute, CUHK-Shenzhen; and Dr. Jung Tsung Wei, President of the CUHK Business School Taiwan Alumni Association.

The new alumni association was created to strengthen networks among its members, who are EMBA (Chinese) alumni and students based primarily in Shenzhen and elsewhere in mainland China. Dean Prof. Kalok Chan opened the ceremony by offering his congratulations. “It’s an honour to witness this incredible milestone. I want to thank everyone, particularly our loyal EMBA (Chinese) alumni, for their unfailing enthusiasm and commitment,” he said. “As the alumni association grows, I look forward to watching its impact spread locally and regionally as we further our vision of promoting the economy of the Greater Bay Area.”

The new Chairman of the EMBA (Chinese) Alumni Association, Mr. Zhou Chui Fu, could not contain his delight. “I want to thank everyone for sharing my joy and excitement. I am especially indebted to CUHK and the Business School for their endless support over the last 12 months, from brainstorming to planning – down to the logistics of today’s inauguration ceremony. Of course, I am also grateful to all the alumni for their trust, as well as our Executive Committee for putting together today’s ceremony. Through their words and actions, everyone here has helped to make this happen.”

Chairman Zhou has plans for future networking events that will enable alumni and students to further their industry connections, while leveraging the unity of the alumni association to strengthen the alumni community and contribute to the alma mater.

It was a special moment when the cheque presentation ceremony began, featuring the following six alumni donors of the EMBA (Chinese) programme:

Words cannot express my heartfelt gratitude to our generous alumni. All proceeds will go to the CUHK Business School Development Fund, which supports the School’s sustainable development as we nurture business leaders for Hong Kong, China and the world.”

The worthwhile event concluded with a dinner at the Hong Kong Science Park. The Alumni and Corporate Affairs Office congratulates the CUHK EMBA (Chinese) Alumni Association on its successful inauguration and looks forward to building an even stronger alumni network together.
