To keep alumni abreast of developments in the real estate sector, the CUHK Business School Alumni Office organised an “Alumni Industry Dinner” in June. The event featured keynote speaker Mr Shih Wing-ching, founder and chairman of Centaline Group, who offered his perspectives on current trends in the Hong Kong real estate market. The discussion was moderated by Professor Nelson Wong, Professor of Practice in Real Estate at CUHK Business School, and drew an audience of more than a hundred alumni spanning various programmes and graduating years. Mr Shih’s insightful and witty remarks, along with his invitation for alumni to “challenge” his viewpoints, fostered a lively and engaging atmosphere.

During the event, alumni sought Mr Shih’s advice on discerning trends in the Hong Kong property market. His guidance focused on critical indicators such as vacancy rates, rental prices, and the volume of secondary residential transactions. Attendees also expressed significant interest in the potential appreciation of residential properties and the impact of geopolitical factors on property prices, topics which Mr Shih addressed comprehensively.

The evening was further enriched by opportunities for alumni to capture memorable moments with Mr Shih and engage directly with him, making it a thoroughly enjoyable occasion for all.

Let’s revisit some of the highlights that day:
