Name | Jason Liu |
Study Programme | MScFIN 2020 |
Current Location | Taipei |
Current Job | Account Analyst, PIMCO Taiwan |
Q1. Could you briefly describe your current role?
In my current role, I specialise in client servicing, where I discuss macro trends, evaluate portfolio risk, and conduct performance attribution analysis for both retail and institutional clients.
Q2. Please describe Taipei in three words.
Taipei is a cosmopolitan, dynamic, and vibrant city. Advancements in Taiwan’s semiconductor technology have led to more international companies establishing local operations in its main cities, including Taipei. The thriving startup ecosystem has helped to transform Taipei into a hub of technological progress, drawing talented individuals and investment from around the world.
Q3. Which industry do you see strong business potential in Taiwan and why?
While Taiwan is renowned for its semiconductor industry, the elderly entertainment sector also holds significant business potential. With the Baby Boomers approaching their 60s and an ageing population, there is a growing demand for entertainment activities designed for them. This presents untapped market opportunities for businesses to cater to the needs and preferences of this demographic, characterised by their wealth accumulation and pursuit of an enjoyable life.
Q4. What is the one thing you miss the most during your study at CUHK Business School, and that you look forward to doing again?
Walking around the campus, and specifically, revisiting the Pavilion of Harmony once again! Since COVID restrictions are no longer in place, I would love to make time to fly back to Hong Kong and reunite with friends and classmates and spent some time in the campus.
