An intimate conversation on maternal challenges with director Oliver Chan (GBS 2009) at the exclusive screening for alumni

On April 16, over 120 alumni and guests gathered for an exclusive screening of Montages of a Modern Motherhood, hosted by the CUHK Business School Alumni Office, featuring post-screening insights from director Oliver Chan (GBS 2009).
Montages of a Modern Motherhood offers a moving portrait of first-time motherhood, deftly capturing the psychological burdens that quietly erode a woman’s identity.
During the post-screening discussion, alumni engaged with fervour, with several offering resonant insights into their own motherhood journey. Oliver provided an intimate glimpse into her creative process, revealing that she revised the film’s conclusion multiple times and even delved into extensive discussions with both leads to pinpoint the underlying issues. She aspires for the film to spark broader societal awareness and urges policymakers to implement systemic changes that better support new mothers, thereby alleviating the unseen burdens they often bear.
Dr Rosette Leung, Co-Director of the CUHK Business School Global Business Studies Programme, was also in attendance to lend her support. Oliver engaged in conversation and captured moments with fellow alumni.
