On 6 September, the alumni community of the CUHK MBA in Finance (FMBA) programme gathered to celebrate a momentous occasion: the official establishment of the FMBA Alumni Association. The Beijing and Shenzhen FMBA Alumni Networks have been dedicated to serving alumni for years, eventually joining forces to bring about the formation of the FMBA Alumni Association, heralding the dawn of a new era.

The inauguration ceremony took place at CUHK’s Cheng Yu Tung Building, with numerous distinguished guests in attendance, including Professor Anthony T.C. Chan, Pro-Vice-Chancellor/ Vice-President (Alumni Relations & Advancement) of CUHK; Ms Eleanor Hui, director of Alumni Affairs Office; Professor Zhou Lin, dean of CUHK Business School; and Professor Gu Zhaoyang, director of the FMBA Programme. Committee members of the FMBA Alumni Association, along with many alumni and students, also travelled from afar to witness this significant milestone for the programme.

The ceremony began with an inspiring address by Professor Zhou Lin, who shared his best wishes to the FMBA Alumni Association and extended his heartfelt gratitude to the alumni for their selfless contributions. Following this, Ms Dai Xiaoyuan (FMBA 2002), president of the FMBA Alumni Association, alongside the vice-presidents and committee members, formally accepted their appointment letters, embracing the responsibility and mission of serving the wider FMBA alumni network.

After the appointment, the guests pressed the launch buttons together, heightening the energy in the room and symbolising the official launch of the FMBA Alumni Association and the opening of an exciting new chapter.

During her speech, Ms Dai Xiaoyuan detailed the organisational structure of the FMBA Alumni Association, emphasising the strong connections between Beijing, Shenzhen, and the upcoming Hong Kong chapter. She introduced the association’s eight liaison offices, which are strategically placed across the nation. She also provided insights into past events organised by various industry associations and clubs, offering the audience a deeper appreciation for the association’s impactful work.

To commemorate this significant milestone, the FMBA Alumni Association made a generous donation to establish a scholarship, designed to inspire and support exceptional students in their pursuit of excellence and to help them realise their aspirations within the esteemed academic environment of the FMBA programme.
