    The Alumni Lecture Series 2023 opened on 20 March with a talk by Daren Lau (OneMBA 2011), Chairman, Executive Director and CEO of Tam Jai International, in which he shared the IPO journey of the company and business wisdom with an ardent audience of over 300 students and fellow alumni in person and online.

    In his opening remarks, Prof Lin ZHOU, Dean of CUHK Business School, extended gratitude towards Daren for returning to his alma mater to generously share his thoughts and experiences with fellow members of the community, adding that he was proud that CUHK Business School has, since its inception 60 years ago, nurtured generations of business leaders, who have made significant contribution to the economy on local, national and even global levels, and not least to CUHK.

     


    Daren unveiled secrets behind the successful listing of Tam Jai International

    During the event, Daren named “brand building, differentiators, and fundamentals” as the three major drivers for Tam Jai International to go public. “With Tam Jai’s mixian being widely loved for its one-of-a-kind flavour, we remain focused on product standardisation while keeping pace with the ever-changing market,” he enthused. “Tam Jai Jeh Jehs’ (the waitresses), on the other hand, injected a unique human touch to the brand in addition to the passion, hard work, and solidarity of the team that pave the way for Tam Jai’s successful IPO pitch”, Daren added.

    The event culminated in a loud ovation following the Q&A session hosted, online and in real life, by Dr John Lai (right), Assistant Dean (Undergraduate Studies) of CUHK Business School, where Daren answered in detail questions raised by enthusiastic students and alumni.
