CUHK Business School Taiwan Alumni Association
Founded in 2011, CUHK Business School Taiwan Alumni Association provides Taiwan alumni with an exchange and socialising platform. President John Wei (EMBA Asia Pacific 2007) envisages continued engagement and connection across all alumni, with the Association as a bridge.
Dialogue with the President
Q1. What is your current job? Please briefly describe your professional work scope or responsibilities.
In 2000, I founded Jingle World Co., Ltd., which develops, manufactures and distributes touch chain sensors, 360-degree omni-directional vibration sensors and tilted devices for ceiling fans and lights. I am currently the President of the Group, overseeing building constructions projects.
Q2. When did you become President of the CUHK Business School Taiwan Alumni Association and what is your vision for it in the wider alumni community?
I came on board as President around five years ago; my focus is on strengthening ties among Taiwan alumni. In addition to passion, I think a committee member should maintain a positive and optimistic attitude, devoting his very best to leading the Association and advancing both social and business exchanges and connections among alumni.
Thanks to the joint effort of nearly 30 committee members over the past five years, the Association has organised a great variety of activities while sharing timely updates on different sectors, thereby boosting connection and strengthening ties in the alumni community.
Q3. What qualities do you observe in the Taiwan alumni community? What expectations do they hold of the Association?
Taiwan alumni possess great enthusiasm and a strong sense of belonging. They look to broaden social and business networks through the Association, whereby they can enrich their life, career and even find support in times of need. Therefore I strongly hope to engage alumni and to grow with them for a brighter future, hopefully maintaining the collective spirit shared among them as much throughout their lifetime as it was back in university days.
In addition to Taiwan alumni, we also maintain close ties with alumni from Hong Kong and Southeast Asia, fostering a sense of solidarity across all alumni communities.

Q4. What kind of activities/ engagement does the Alumni Association usually organise, or can you introduce to us some of the highlight activities in the past?
The Association organises regular meal gatherings, outings as well as reading club, industry exchanges and company visits. There are also occasional seminars featuring famous entrepreneurs and consultants, where alumni and professionals can exchange and share best practices in various industries as well as investment experiences. Meanwhile, alumni can explore business opportunities through networking with alumni from various sectors in the golf club, reading club, business services and other community activities.

Q5. Could you share with us upcoming plans of the Association in 2021/22?
Currently, the CUHK Business School Taiwan Alumni Association has more than 270 members. I’m truly grateful that fellow alumni have found a sense of belonging in the Association, and are willing to exchange career resources and networks with each other. Following our alliance with the National University of Singapore Business School Alumni Association, more joint activities like networking dinners are expected to come to offer fellow alumni opportunities to exchange and collaborate with each other..
