THE BBA ALUMNI ASSOCIATION OF THE FACULTY OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION OF THE CUHK (BBA ALUMNI ASSOCIATION)
Dialogue with the President
Raymond Lo (BBA 1983, MSc in Global Business 2003)
Fast; Enjoyable; Full of opportunities
Q1. What is your current job? Please briefly describe your professional work scope or responsibilities.
As the Director of a fashion trading firm, my work scope includes formulating strategic decision to help overseas clients create value in their fashion business in the aspects of design, development and production. Besides, daily operation of the business is also on my work list.
Q2. When did you become the President of the Alumni Association and what is your vision for it in the wider alumni community??
The CUHK BBA Alumni Association was established in 1995. I joined the Alumni Association in 2004 and was elected as President in 2008. With my years of experience with business associations in HK, I aspire to cultivate an alumni association which inherits the distinctive qualities nurtured by the CUHK Business School, and turns these values into contributions not just for the CUHK alumni community but also the society at large.
Q3. What kind of activities/ engagement does the Alumni Association usually organise, or can you introduce to us some of the highlight activities in the past?
The work of the Alumni Association is divided into four categories, namely “Events and Academic Affairs”, “Membership and Mentorship”, “Communications” and “Greater China Liaison. We hope that we can establish a platform in facilitating interactions among alumni, the business sector and members of the public.
Regular talks are hosted and they come under five key themes, namely “Yiwenzhi” (on Chinese traditional scholarship), “Global Economic Issues” (advocating for an international perspective), “Public Policy” (investigating current public affairs and related policy possibilities), “Glocalisation” (on substantial global issues), and “Into the Future” (on the latest Innovation and Technology ecosystem). We also regularly host other recreational and networking events to strengthen a stronger bonding among alumni.
The “Membership & Mentorship” division works in collaboration with the Undergraduate Program Office of CUHK Business School to deploy the mentorship programme and help students explore the appropriate career pathways for these graduates-to-be.
The “Greater China Liaison” division focuses on the Greater Bay Area and beyond. Past events included “The Belt and Road Initiative” seminar, which had received strong support from the official bodies and various sectors. Moreover, seminars with topics focusing on the social and economical developments in the Greater Bay Area are on the agenda.
The “Communications” division monitors key communications channels for the Alumni Association to disseminate updates from time to time.
The Alumni Association regular hosts talks to encourage knowledge exchange.
The Undergraduate Mentorship Programme is a signature initiative of the Alumni Association.
Q4. Can you share with us the upcoming plans of the Alumni Association in 2022/23?
We will continue organising talks in the near future. An upcoming talk for the geopolitics series, to be held on 29 April, will look into the Ukraine-Russia crisis and discuss how it may reshape the global political order. Hope to see you there!

The EMBA Alumni Association organises networking, knowledge sharing, volunteering and other engagement activities from time to time to strengthen connection among alumni and call for social contribution. For instance in late 2021 when the pandemic situation allowed, we oragnised a campus tour with alumni volunteers taking around 60 elder people to the CUHK campus and taking graduation photos with them. We also supported four members to join the Trailwalker 2021 for a good cause, and organised Christmas party for alumni to gather and have fun.
Members of EMBA AA cheered for the four alumni who joined Trailwalker 2021

Alumni Association Series
CUHK Business School’s alumni have established multiple alumni associations around the world. These associations, classified by programme and region respectively, offer strong support to the Business School. In the coming months, we will introduce individual alumni associations in the Greater China Region via the lens of their Presidents one by one, with a hope to facilitate better understanding and support among the alumni community.
As an alumnus, you are highly encouraged to join an alumni association to keep abreast of the latest updates of your alma mater and the alumni community. Ignite more possibilities by connecting to a larger network and a whole new realm of professional development/ academic opportunities!
